Most Frequently Asked Questions

  • A Pentecostal child dedication service is a ceremony in which a child is consecrated, or dedicated, to God in the presence of the congregation and the parents.

During the ceremony, the parents of the child typically make a commitment to raise the child in accordance with the teachings of the Pentecostal faith. The pastor or other clergy member may pray over the child and ask for God's blessings and protection for the child's life. The congregation may also pray for the child and the parents.

Child dedication ceremonies can be a meaningful way for parents to express their commitment to raising their child in a God-centered home and to seek support and guidance from the church community in doing so.

  • Water Baptism is a Holy Christian sacrament in which a person is immersed in water as a symbol of their commitment to Jesus Christ and the cleansing of their sins. It is a rite of passage for many Pentecostal believers, and it is typically performed by immersion in a body of water, such as a river, a lake, or a baptistery.

At Light Christian Center we believe that people can only be baptized when they are able to make their own decisions. We baptize new believers by immersion.

In Pentecostalism, the act of being baptized in water is seen as a necessary step in the process of becoming a fully committed follower of Jesus. It is believed that through water baptism, a person is washed clean of their past sins and made new in Christ. Additionally, it is believed that the act of being immersed in water is a powerful symbol of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus and that it represents the believer's identification with Christ in his death and resurrection.

Pentecostal water baptism is typically performed by a pastor or other ordained minister, and it is usually preceded by a period of instruction and preparation, during which the candidate for baptism learns about the significance of the sacrament and makes a personal commitment to following Jesus. After the baptism, the newly baptized person is often greeted and welcomed into the community of believers, and they may participate in a celebration or other special event to mark the occasion.

  • Communion is a sacred time of fellowship with God where believers remember Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. In this unique time of worship,, we demonstrate the Lord’s death through prayer and meditation. It is accompanied by partaking of a small piece of bread and a sip of wine (non-alcoholic).

Through communion, beliefs receive from Christ nourishment, strength, faith, and hope.

  • Baptism in the Holy Spirit is an empowering service that takes place in the life of Christians. In it, we are immersed in the Spirit and power.

The baptism of the Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost gives us power beyond ourselves for service and ministry in Christ’s kingdom. When a believer receives the outpouring or baptism of the Holy Spirit, this reproduces the ministry of Jesus Christ, including miracles and healings.

  • As a church, we teach believers to approach marriage as a covenant, a relationship based on promises and commitment, not just feelings-though love most certainly involves.

“and said, ‘For this reason, a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh?’ 6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” ~ Matthew 19:5-6

  • Our belief in the afterlife is based on the bible and specifically the belief in the saving power of Jesus Christ and the promise of eternal life with God in heaven for those who have accepted Him as their savior, otherwise known as born again.

“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.”

    ~John 11:25
